I was using Obsidian, but it felt like I only used about 1% of its features. The thing I kept wanting was a really fast way to flip through my notes. I couldn't get that workflow to feel the way I wanted, so I decided to build my own with GPT Astra. The result is Mithril , a Markdown notebook for Windows, built in Rust with a focus on speed and responsiveness. In the sidebar, you can move through notes with the arrow keys and read each one as you go. Quickly skim a folder, find the note you need, and start writing. That interaction is a big part of why I built it. Your notes stay as ordinary Markdown files on your computer. It also has live preview, Mermaid diagrams, and a built-in terminal. All features are available to evaluate without a time limit. A $50 USD lifetime license removes the evaluation reminders. No subscription; applicable tax is extra. Screenshots and Windows download The Windows app and installer are currently unsigned, so Windows may show a SmartScreen warning. Does anyone else use only a small slice of their note-taking app?
