I spent a few months building this: connect GitHub once, get a portfolio site that rebuilds itself from your repos every night. Live and working right now. 136 people signed up. Zero paid. I gave the entire user base a Pro trial, 114 of them expired, nobody converted. My read on why, in case it's useful to anyone else here: the free tier does the whole job. Hosted site, GitHub sync, an AI assistant that answers from your work, several templates, your own subdomain. Pro adds more templates, a custom domain that basically nobody wanted, and removes a badge. Nobody needed it. That's a positioning problem, not a price problem, I checked the funnel and a flat 0 percent conversion across 114 lapsed trials isn't what price sensitivity looks like. I'm selling rather than fixing it, I need the money now more than I need to keep iterating on pricing. $1,500 for everything: full repo with commit history, the domain, the database with all 136 accounts, the hosting project, a GitHub App integration, and the billing setup wired end to end. Also comes with two technical handover documents I kept updated the whole time I was building, not written after the fact for the sale. Technically it's a real build: multi-tenant routing on a real wildcard subdomain, GitHub OAuth plus sync, over 20 templates including several genuine interactive builds, a retrieval-based AI assistant scoped strictly to each user's own public data, automated custom domains with SSL, and full billing wired through a real payments provider. Two things I'll say up front because you'd find them anyway: no revenue, and a few of the templates are properly licensed open-source ports, attributed in the repo.
