Original Summary

For those who don't want to read and just want to try it here are the links in the app store and play store IOS Android I'm a developper with 15 years of professional experience and I've always done side projects, but most of the time they were only dumb stuff I did to learn new techs and I would discard them or lose the code. Recently however I decided to start working on stuff people can actually use so I got into mobile apps. I was working on another side project that is still in developement, a meal planner/ grocery planner / deal hunter that plans your groceries according to your training goal and optimizes the costs, when I saw a video on Twitter of a dude doing "meal prep" but it was like 100 hot-dogs and he put them all in zip-lock bags. I thought it was funny and decided to sidetrack myself and make a meal planner that recommends only a variety of hot-dogs. It was already working after a couple of hours so I decided why not put it on the play store. I did NOT anticipate the process of publishing on the play store and app store to be so tedious and long. I decided to put the dev accounts under my company name since it offers multiple advantages so I had to wait like two weeks just to get a DUNS to create the accounts. While I was waiting on it, I decided to work on the app more. One morning I woke up and got the idea to add a clicker game (like cookie clicker) where you click a hot-dog, buy upgrades and buy new hot-dog recipes for the planner. My friend who works on those projects with me had the idea to add a critical hit system so we added it. Then we ended up spending weeks fine tuning the progression and adding features. We added a global leaderboard for those who want to compete and develop carpal tunnel syndrome. We decided to have a weekly reset of the progression, with new meals to buy in the shop with your points. We even took inspiration on the old rune system in league of legends, so when you generate your meal plan for the week each meal has stats boost for the clicker. The meals you buy in the shop offer better stat boosts than the starting ones and you keep them on the weekly reset. I spent way more time on a stupid joke app than I'd like to admit but on the way I learned all the process of publishing apps on both stores and I'm all setup for future apps so I'm really happy about it. Now the first version is finally ready to download and play. Happy to receive any feedback, positive or negative! submitted by /u/Illustrious_Tea4614 [link] [comments]
