I kept wanting to show how code changes over time in talks and blog posts, but most code screenshot tools give you a single static image. So I built CodeReel. How it works: - Write several versions of a snippet as steps - Hit play and the frame morphs between them: lines move, appear, and fade in place - Click line numbers to highlight them - Pick a theme and frame layout, then export PNG / JPEG / WebP Everything runs in the browser. There's no backend and no account, and your code never gets uploaded. Stack: Next.js, Shiki + Shiki Magic Move for the morphing, modern-screenshot for image export. Video export isn't built in yet. For now there's a guide for capturing the animation with your own screen recorder. That's the next thing I want to tackle, so I'd love to hear what format or settings you'd want.
