A Met spokesperson said recent advancements in CCTV enhancement technology had "provided investigators with the opportunity to re-examine original footage from Putney Bridge train station". The CCTV includes an unidentified man who was seen sprinting near the scene of the shooting, 20 minutes after the event. The Met said in the 27 years since Dando's death, the investigation had been "subject to numerous reviews", aiming to identify whether matters could be progressed with advances in technology and forensics. It warned this latest review was part of "ongoing inquiries and should not be interpreted as a significant line of inquiry nor as a new investigation being opened on this matter". The TV presenter and newsreader was 37 when she died on the doorstep of her home on Gowan Avenue. Barry George, a local man, was convicted of her murder and spent eight years in jail before being acquitted at a retrial in 2008.
