Original Summary
I work with CGI and use HDRIs regularly, and over time I wanted a better way to keep a proper local library instead of repeatedly browsing and downloading individual files. So as a side project I built HavenFetch . It’s a free Windows toolkit for browsing, downloading, verifying and maintaining HDRIs from Poly Haven. This started as a simple bulk downloader for myself, but it gradually turned into three separate tools: HavenFetch Browser A visual local catalogue where you can browse the Poly Haven HDRI library, search, filter, preview assets, mark favourites and create download queues. HavenFetch Downloader Handles the actual downloads with parallel workers, pause/resume, interrupted-download recovery, MD5 verification, repair, manifests and automatic resolution fallback. HavenFetch CLI For people who want to automate or schedule updates to their local library. You can choose resolutions from 1K up to 24K , HDR or EXR. If the requested resolution isn't available for a particular HDRI, it can automatically use the next lower available resolution. It can also: skip files you already have download only new or missing HDRIs resume .part downloads verify files against the official MD5 checksums detect and repair damaged/incomplete files export CSV and JSON manifests preview download sizes before starting maintain a very large local library without manually managing every asset I tested HavenFetch against the complete HDRI catalogue to make sure the downloader, resume, verification and repair workflows work reliably at library scale. The app is: Free Windows only Portable No Python required No account No telemetry One important thing I want to mention: HavenFetch is unofficial and is not affiliated with Poly Haven. And a huge amount of appreciation goes to the Poly Haven team . They’ve spent years making high-quality HDRIs, textures and models freely available to artists under CC0. As someone working in CGI, resources like this are genuinely valuable, and maintaining a library at that scale takes a huge amount of work. HavenFetch doesn't replace Poly Haven — it is simply a utility built around their public API for people who prefer maintaining a local HDRI collection. The real value is the library they created. So thank you to everyone at Poly Haven for what you've contributed to artists and the CG community. ❤️ RAW CGI I’ve just released v1.0.0 and I’d really like feedback from other builders here — particularly on the Windows app workflow, packaging and what I should improve for v2.
