​ I built HearMe ( https://hearme.chat ) — you open it, pick voice or text, and get matched with a random stranger in a few seconds. No account, no camera, no video at all. Why I made it: most "talk to strangers" sites are either video-first (and full of the stuff you'd expect) or need you to sign up before you can even try. I wanted something that feels like picking up a phone and just talking. What's there now: • 1:1 voice calls (WebRTC) or text chat • A request board — post a topic ("need someone to practise English with", "bored at 2 AM") and people pick it up • Report/block on every chat, rules against harassment • 8 languages incl. Hindi, Spanish, Arabic, Indonesian Stack: Next.js + Socket.IO + WebRTC with our own TURN server, single VPS behind Cloudflare. It's early — some hours it's quiet.
