Original Summary
Hey r/SaaS , I'm a software engineer (about 5 years in), and I've been building a side project called Slidefy . It's a tool that [what it does in one line, e.g. "turns your text or ideas into ready-to-use slides in a few minutes"]. Here's where I'm at, no fluff: 565 unique visitors in the last 24 hours (peak of 70/hour) 85 signups total $0 revenue People are finding Slidefy, and some are curious enough to sign up. But nobody has upgraded to paid yet. What I think might be going wrong: The free tier might be too generous. People get what they need and leave. Weak onboarding. Users might not reach the "aha" moment before they drop off. Wrong traffic. A lot of visitors might be browsing, not people with a real need. No trust signals. There are no testimonials yet, so paying feels risky. What I'm planning next: Personally emailing all 85 signups to ask why they signed up and what stopped them from paying Tracking where users drop off after signup Testing a limited free tier vs a free trial My questions for you: When you had signups but no revenue, what was the real problem? Is 85 signups with 0 paid normal at this stage, or a red flag? Free tier or free trial, which worked better for you early on? I'll share what I learn from talking to users in a follow-up post. submitted by /u/FearlessCommittee412 [link] [comments]
