I've been working on a project called Quist for a while now. It started because I got tired of the friction of using AI for small tasks, you either open a big, resource-heavy app, or you go to a webpage and copy-paste things around. So I built something different. What it is: You press Ctrl+Space anywhere, and a tiny overlay appears right at your cursor. You tell it what you want, rewrite a sentence, convert something, search your own files, and it either does it instantly or asks a quick follow-up. It's not another chat window. It's more like a small intelligence layer that's already there when you need it. How it works: It runs locally, so nothing you type gets sent anywhere. It's lightweight (under 700 MB), so it doesn't fight your browser for RAM. And there's a "smarter" mode if you hold a modifier key, it takes a few seconds longer, but can handle more complex tasks like summarizing a whole document instead of just a paragraph. I'm at the point where I've built a solid working prototype, and I'm trying to figure out if this is worth polishing for a public release.
