Original Summary
I'm Norwegian, and writing English quickly while gaming is difficult for me because of dyslexia. I built ChatShift so I can type or speak in my own language and translate the message directly in the game's chat field with a shortcut. I recorded a new hands-on Valheim demo showing Norwegian-to-English text and voice translation, the settings, and a microphone test with optional local DeepFilterNet3 noise suppression: https://youtu.be/qVZ6KIvjux8 Download and setup: https://github.com/toffenloffen/ChatShift It's an early Windows project. Whisper speech recognition runs locally; text translation goes through Codex using your own signed-in ChatGPT account. You need to install/sign in to Codex, and account usage limits apply. Free-account compatibility hasn't been verified in ChatShift. I've tried it in Valheim and World of Warcraft. Other games still need testing, and speech recognition/translation can make mistakes. The noise filter works well in my setup, but it won't remove every sound or other voice. I'd love feedback on whether the workflow makes sense and where setup or shortcuts feel confusing. My goal is to make joining the conversation easier, without lots of settings to manage. submitted by /u/toffen1990 [link] [comments]
