so i've had UluP Spaces running for a couple months now, it's a project mapping tool, basically nodes instead of a to-do list. always had people ask if there was a way to hook into it programmatically and i kept putting it off because it felt like a lot of work for something maybe 3 people would use. finally did it two nights ago. rest api, rate limited, webhooks with hmac signatures so people don't have to poll. also set up a little directory where people can submit stuff they build on it. the annoying part was realizing an empty directory just looks abandoned, so i ended up building something myself at like 2am, a chrome extension that saves a page as a node. mostly just to have SOMETHING in there on day one. and then that thing immediately broke because of a redirect issue with www vs non-www stripping the auth header lol. tested the api itself for days with curl and never hit it because curl wasn't going through the same redirect path. only found it once i had a real client hitting it. anyway. wish i'd just done this months ago instead of waiting for "enough demand." you never really know if there's demand until the door's actually open.   submitted by   /u/Potential-Art7696 [link]   [comments]
