I'm building a SaaS product and recently spent a lot of time looking at Auth0, Clerk, Supabase Auth, Auth.js, etc. It made me wonder if I'm overcomplicating something that is already solved. For people who have built and shipped SaaS products: What is actually annoying about auth today? For me, basic login isn't very interesting. I'm more curious about things like: Organizations / teams Roles and permissions SSO / SCIM API keys and service accounts Fine-grained authorization Giving AI agents limited access to a user's resources Especially the last one. I'm trying to figure out how people are handling permissions when an AI agent needs to act on behalf of a user. Are you happy with your current auth provider? If not, what specifically made you unhappy with it?
