I've been working on Formatif Pro for the past few months, mostly because I kept needing to do really basic things with media while working on my other projects Convert an image, shrink a screen recording, resize a bunch of assets, extract audio from a video, add a watermark to a folder of images. Nothing particularly complicated, but I was constantly opening different apps or websites to do them I didn't really want another big video editor, and I also didn't like having to keep uploading project files to online converters just to change a format So I started building my own desktop app for it It's now turned into 62 image, video, and audio tools , and it's probably way bigger than the little utility I originally had in mind One thing I'm particularly happy with is the workflow system. You can chain tools together, so something like Resize -> Convert to WebP -> Watermark can be saved and run on a whole folder instead of doing everything manually. It's built with Tauri + Rust , and the installer is under 53 MB. It also sits around 6 MB RAM when idle, which was one of the things I cared alot about achieving Everything is processed locally. There isn't a server somewhere receiving your files. It also has batch queues, and you can cancel individual files without stopping the entire batch, which sounds like a small thing but became pretty useful once I started throwing large folders at it. I'm not trying to replace Premiere or other professional editing software. The idea is really just to have something sitting on your computer for the annoying little media jobs that come up during development, content creation, and general project work. It's currently available for Windows and Linux. This app is made for us developers, or for anyone who wants to avoid the steep learning curves of professional editing tools.
