I built Alcove mostly because I wanted something like it myself, and I’m putting it out there now in case other people find it useful too. Press Ctrl+Space and it opens a grid for your shortcuts, apps and folders. Pick something and Alcove gets out of the way again. You can drag shorcuts or exe files onto the grid, arrange them, group them into coloured folders, or link a real folder from anywhere on your PC and browse it inside Alcove. There’s also Shelf on Ctrl+Shift+Space for searching your shortcuts and installed Windows apps. It can do calculations and unit/currency conversions too. Peek lets you preview images, PDFs, text files and Word documents without opening them. There are also 40 themes, so I hope there is something that matches your vibe!
