I’ve been working on a side project called Lumabook . The idea is pretty simple: you read a book normally, at your own pace, but scenes from the story come alive alongside the text. Not static AI illustrations — actual motion. The difficult part has been making the visuals feel like they belong to the same book. Generative AI gets sloppy pretty quickly: characters change faces, clothes randomly change, locations drift, details contradict the text, etc. I started with The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes because it’s public domain and has such a recognizable atmosphere. The biggest thing I’m trying to figure out now isn’t technical, though: Do visuals like this actually make reading more immersive, or do they just become a distraction?
