Original Summary
I'm a freelance designer, and for years my business was scattered across a spreadsheet for invoices, another for taxes, a notes app for briefs, a timer that never matched my timesheet, and a calendar that knew about meetings but not deadlines. Every Sunday night came with the same low-grade feeling that something, somewhere, was overdue. Everything I tried to fix it with was built for teams of twelve and rented by the month. I'm one person. I needed one place. So I built Navis Dash. navisdash.com How it works It's one HTML file. You open it from your own disk and it runs in your browser — no server, no account, no install, no build step. Fonts and charts are embedded, so it works on a plane with the wi-fi off. Your records live on your machine, in a format you can read and walk away with, and it backs itself up automatically into your own iCloud, Dropbox or Drive folder. Nothing is uploaded anywhere, because there's nowhere to upload it to. What's in it Eighteen pages that know about each other: clients, leads, projects with stages, tasks, a deadline radar that shows what's slipping before it's urgent. A work clock that feeds your timesheet, so tracked hours and billed hours are finally the same number. Invoices and quotes with four templates, your logo and signature. Contracts, retainers, usage rights, NDAs and change orders that fill themselves in from the client and project. Expenses, taxes, and a money map that separates what you earned from what actually landed , with an eight-week cash-flow forecast. Twenty-five currencies with live rates. The page I use most shows my real hourly rate — per client, per service, after every revision round. The rate on your invoice is a hope. This is the one you actually earned, and the first time you see it, it stings. Why I built it this way Because a freelancer's client list and income are nobody else's asset. Because a tool you need to survive shouldn't stop working when a card expires. And because I wanted quiet software — no streaks, no confetti, no engagement metrics. It should lower your pulse, not raise it. It ran my own studio for months before I sold a copy. Every part of it earned its place in a working week. It's $79, paid once, yours forever. The whole tour, every page, and the price are on the site. submitted by /u/Dazzling-Cod-8466 [link] [comments]
