I'm a one-person studio. This started as a complaint at my own kitchen table. Apple gives you one Hidden album. One. No folders, no structure, and it unlocks with the same Face ID and passcode your kids use to play games on your phone. My wife wanted somewhere for passport scans, kids' documents, medical stuff and, yes, a few photos she'd rather not have someone scroll past. Nothing on the App Store felt trustworthy: ads, "unlock with premium" popups on every tap, and no way to know where the photos actually go. So I built Sanctum Photo Vault. What it is: - Its own 6-digit PIN, separate from your device passcode. Face ID optional. - Real folders. Photos, videos, screenshots, documents. - Everything is AES-256 encrypted on the device and stored in your own iCloud. I run no servers. There is no account. I couldn't see your photos if I wanted to. - Import from Photos and it offers to delete the originals. Share into it from Mail, Messages, Safari or Files. - iPhone, iPad and Mac, one vault, synced through your iCloud. Pricing, since Reddit will ask: it's free with full security, 3 folders, 30 photos and 2 videos, no time limit. Premium is $4.99/month or $39.99/year for unlimited everything plus search and editing. No trial games, no ads, no analytics. Anything you put in stays accessible forever whether you ever pay or not. Things I learned building it that might help someone: - SwiftData with CloudKit mirroring is great until you change the schema. You must deploy the schema to production before shipping the build or sync silently stalls. - Share extensions can't touch your main app's database. I used an App Group inbox and the app ingests on next unlock. - App Review asked one question in total: how to test without an account. The answer was "there isn't one". My wife has been the product manager. The "Unsorted" inbox and the 3-folder free tier were both her calls.
