I’m the developer behind StreamX, a playlist-based media player I’ve been working on for about a year. It’s a native app for iPhone, iPad and Apple TV. You can browse a live TV guide, save favourites and return to movies and series through Continue Watching. Apple silicon Macs can also run the iPad version. The work so far has included playback, the programme guide, casting, subtitles and family profiles. But one thing the launch reminded me of is how much those first few minutes matter. Someone thought they needed to pay just to add their first playlist. They didn’t, but the setup choices weren’t clear enough. Supporting a feature and making it easy to find are different jobs. That’s what I’d most like feedback on: when you first open the app, is it obvious what to do next?
