Hi everyone, I’ve been building Find Something Vintage, a mobile-friendly tool for people who find, inherit or buy vintage and collectable objects they don’t recognise. You can take or upload up to four photographs—including the base, marks and labels—and the app brings the research together in one place: • A possible identification • Suggested maker, age and model or pattern • The visible evidence supporting the result • An indicative selling range • Comparable-market research where available The main difference from a conventional reverse-image search is what happens next. If you decide to sell the item, you choose and enter your own price. The app can then prepare the title, description, category, item specifics and photographs and create a real eBay listing scheduled to start seven days later. It isn’t a private draft hidden inside the app. The listing appears in your own eBay account, where you can inspect it, add further condition details, change anything or cancel it before it goes live. The aim is to turn a process that can involve image searches, researching makers and prices, writing a description and manually creating an eBay listing into something that takes a few minutes. It is not intended to authenticate objects or replace professional valuers. The results are research guidance, and the seller remains responsible for checking the identification, choosing the price and reviewing the eBay listing. I’m now looking for approximately 15 additional UK beta testers—particularly: • Charity-shop and car-boot regulars • Collectors • Occasional eBay sellers • House-clearance professionals • People sorting inherited belongings • Complete beginners who regularly find things they cannot identify The beta is free and invitation-only. I’m looking for honest feedback about incorrect identifications, unrealistic prices, missing information, confusing wording and anything that breaks.
