Having a weather app doesn’t help me much because I never think to actually open it. So I put a Home Assistant controlled strip of LEDs by the front door. Each light represents an hour of the next 24, with temperature on top and conditions underneath. It works great as long as I'm home. But since I do occasionally leave the house, I made an Android live wallpaper version that puts the same idea on the edge of my screen. Same hours, same colors, nothing to open. Every time I look at my phone the forecast is already sitting there. The app is free, severe weather alerts included. There's an optional one-time Pro purchase for wind, precipitation and extended forecasts. Mine leans on Home Assistant to do the forecast thinking, but I'm working on a self-contained version that runs on an ESP32 and fetches the weather itself, no home server required.
