Hey everyone, A few months ago, I was looking into how third-party Instagram analytics tools handle recent follower activity. Most existing apps out there felt bloated, required full account credentials, or broke constantly whenever Instagram tweaked its backend. So I decided to build a simple, lightweight web utility called checklastfollow.com as a personal project to see if I could handle the data fetching smoothly without hitting severe rate limits. The Engineering & Technical Journey: Stack: Next.js on the front end for speed and Node.js backend to handle request queues. The Main Obstacle: Dealing with strict platform rate limits and response structure changes. Managing cache invalidation while keeping real-time data accurate was a huge headache. Privacy Focus: Built it to run without forcing users to log in or store unnecessary personal token data. Current Status & What’s Next: It’s live and working, but I’m still tuning performance under higher traffic loads.
