Original Summary

I built and have been using this app, Later Money, for a little while and finally decided to push it up and see if it helps anyone else. The idea is pretty simple, given your yearly income, how much would it take to reach a savings rate goal. It also has a purchasing goals tracker that can help you track paying for something over time. There is no login and your data stays on your device. What it does: • Savings rate in real dollars — set your income + a target, and it shows what you'd need to put away to stay on track. No red screens, no guilt. • True cost of ownership — a $2,000 purchase decades from retirement isn't $2,000, it's thousands in foregone retirement (in today's dollars). It shows the opportunity cost before you spend. • Goals — track what you're saving for, each with a progress bar, required monthly pace, and its true cost. • Widgets for your savings rate and each goal. Why not use a spreadsheet? This is honestly what I've been using for a while now, but having my primary interface on a phone it was hard to read and edit the data on my phone. Having all the data in the app also allowed me to display exactly what I needed and I can drill down in different areas to get more details. Later Money: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/later-money-savings-tracker/id6807197163 I put it as a subscription for $2.99/month, but am opened to feedback. I'll gladly give free lifetime memberships to anyone here that would like to use the app long term. Anyways, would love any feedback! Note: I've been a software engineer for more than 10 years. submitted by /u/mkitomate [link] [comments]
