I’ve been building an Android app called Momentum Habits as a side project. The idea came from wanting a habit tracker that was simple, flexible and didn’t put the useful parts behind a subscription. I liked parts of existing apps, but I wanted something that felt calmer and less focused on punishing you for breaking a streak. Momentum is now live on Google Play and currently includes habit tracking, flexible schedules, multiple reminders, calendar history, progress statistics, achievements, dark mode, backup/restore and support for 8 languages. The app stores habit data locally on the device and doesn’t require an account. The core habit features are free to use, with a small banner ad helping support development. One of the things I’ve been working on recently is a Year in Review feature. The idea is similar to a Spotify Wrapped-style experience, but for your habits — showing things like your completed sessions, active days, longest streak, strongest month and achievements. It’ll only appear towards the end of the year rather than sitting in the app permanently. I’m developing it myself in Kotlin / Jetpack Compose, and it’s been a really interesting project because a lot of the work has ended up being around the little details: notification behaviour, historical habit calculations, localisation, data backup, Android edge cases, and trying not to make the app feel overly gamified. I’d genuinely appreciate feedback, particularly on: whether the app feels easy to understand when you first open it anything that feels unnecessary or missing the Progress/statistics side of the app whether the overall design feels calm enough for something you might use every day.
