Original Summary

Hey everyone Been following the slew of AI Native Agentic Enterprise B2B SaaS in this sub (and in real life). Tried my hands on building my own mobile app for meal planning and got a few thousands of users but peanuts for revenue. I guess what everyone's been saying is true, it's easy to build these days but so hard to get users. Recently I had a newborn and amidst all the sleep deprivation and squats to put him to sleep, I decided to make life even harder by making a card game. Somehow having a kid inspires me to go back to my roots and rediscover what is true to myself, which are: drawings, games, and monsters. So I started to design the mechanics of the card games, testing out low fidelity with friends and other redditors, and hand draw the illustrations with traditional ink and watercolor. That's right, just pure flawed human hands, with no AI like a madman. The result is Cyclemental , a fast-paced 2-5 player "take-that" strategy card game rooted in the ancient Chinese Wu Xing / Japanese Gogyo elemental philosophy. I definitely learnt a lot more beyond game design and physical product design, and the most important thing for me was to take feedback graciously and build a community. Won't go to all the details here but it's been an intense rollercoaster in the past few months. Plus, it's definitely been refreshing to take a break away from staring at UI screens all day long. On the flipside though, seeing a physical game go from a sketch to a real box on a table to getting fully funded on Kickstarter has been unreal. The campaign was even picked up as a "Project We Love" by Kickstarter staff! Anyways, just thought I'd share this as it's a side project that I am having fun with and hopefully it inspires others to be creative again. Happy to answer any questions and thanks for reading! Sorry for the long post here's a potato. submitted by /u/rjot28 [link] [comments]
