Original Summary

I keep seeing this idea that YouTube's AI is now so good at understanding content that if you define your ideal customer and make videos specifically for them, YouTube can essentially match you with the right people. I think that's dangerous advice for companies trying to use YouTube for customer acquisition. If your company uploads a video and it gets 20, 30 or 40 views, it doesn't matter how perfectly you defined your ICP. Almost nobody saw the video. The questions I'd be asking are much more basic: Is there actual demand for the topic? Why would your target customer click this instead of everything else? Is YouTube giving it impressions? Where are those impressions coming from? Are people watching once they click? And when something finally works, why did it work? AI getting better at understanding content doesn't eliminate any of that. I got frustrated enough with this argument that I made a video breaking it down using Think Media's recent advice as the example: YouTube AI Won't Find Your Customers https://youtu.be/9MRHujS5vlY Disclosure: This is my video. I work on YouTube strategy for businesses. I'm sharing it because it's directly related to the argument above, and I'd be interested in hearing from SaaS founders using YouTube for acquisition. submitted by /u/Electronic-Control15 [link] [comments]
