My partner and I recently launched an AI health coach on the App Store. We did quite a lot of competitor research beforehand, but somehow ChatGPT Health completely flew under my radar - probably because it isn't available here in Europe yet. We only launched last week, so we're still extremely early. Right now, the product sits somewhere between an AI health assistant and a health dashboard: you can talk to AI about your health and your own data, but you can also manually explore things like sleep, HRV, activity, symptoms, bloodwork, etc. through the UI instead of everything being hidden behind a chat. Next week we're releasing what we think is one of the more important parts of the product. The AI becomes proactive rather than just waiting for questions. It remembers context, keeps a history, notices changes and patterns, follows up on things you've mentioned before, and proactively surfaces suggestions. The idea is for it to gradually feel more like a personal health assistant that actually knows you. We've also just launched a completely redesigned website, we're rebuilding the onboarding experience, and we're redesigning parts of the app around this direction. Then today my brother mentioned ChatGPT Health, and I looked into it properly for the first time. And now I'm sitting here thinking: is this even worth pursuing? Obviously we're a tiny two-person startup competing in a space where OpenAI can connect health data directly to one of the best AI models in the world. At the same time, I don't necessarily think we're trying to build exactly the same product. We're much more focused on the continuous experience of understanding your health every day - combining visual dashboards, tracking, patterns and proactive AI - rather than health simply being another thing you can ask an AI about. I'm curious how other founders would think about this.
