Assalamu alaikum (and hi to everyone else) — I'm Omer, a solo dev, and I just launched ImanFlow, a free Islamic companion app for iOS and Android. The short version of why: a few years ago it came out that one of the biggest prayer apps was sending users' location data to a data broker (reported by Vice/Motherboard in 2020 — they cut ties after, but the trust never really came back). As a Muslim I found that hard to swallow: the app that knows when and where I pray should be the last app selling my location. So I built the alternative I wanted to exist. What it does: - Accurate prayer times with adhan notifications (all major calculation methods, multiple muadhins) - Qibla compass, Hijri calendar, digital Tasbih and duas - Full Quran in Uthmani script with translations and audio recitation - An AI assistant you can ask about any verse — tafsir, context, "what does this actually mean" — powered by Groq, which keeps answers fast and cheap enough to keep the core free - Streak tracking and community challenges for prayer/Quran/Dhikr The deal I'm trying to hold: everything a practicing Muslim needs is free forever. Prayer times will never be paywalled — gating worship feels wrong. A premium tier later (roughly $30/year) will cover unlimited AI questions and extras like offline mode. Free tier gets a daily AI allowance so everyone can try it. Tech: Flutter, Firebase, RevenueCat for subscriptions, Groq for the AI layer.
