Original Summary
I run Apollo, a small desktop app for managing WordPress sites. Instead of another feature post, I made a tiny browser game to introduce it: Apollo Spaceflight , a mission entirely rendered in text characters. You count down, ride a three-stage rocket through staging, cross the solar system dodging debris, then flip and burn into orbit around a random planet. A synthesized mission-control voice narrates the whole flight, and the side panels run the actual rocket-equation and Hohmann-transfer math for wherever you're headed. Make orbit and you get a shareable score card. The build: Next.js + TypeScript, the whole game is one <canvas> drawn as a glyph grid each frame. Sound is synthesized live with the Web Audio API; the voice is pre-generated TTS with a browser-speech fallback. No engine, no sign-up, works on mobile. The bet: most people bounce off a straight "here's my SaaS" link, so I'm testing whether a genuinely fun 2-minute thing earns the click to actually read about the product. Curious what this community thinks of that funnel — too clever, or fair game? ▶ Play: https://apollo-site.com/spaceflight?ref=reddit 🚀 What it's promoting: https://apollo-site.com?ref=reddit Happy to answer anything about the build or the strategy. submitted by /u/vxvinh [link] [comments]
