Original Summary
Hi guys, So I have a problem of not retaining the knowledge that I get from reading bunch of books. So my gf and I, tried a bunch of apps to retain what we read, and nothing actually stuck. It was always one of two problems: either we're staring at a blank page with no idea what to write, or we're just copying down quotes... but a quote is the author's thought, not ours. Copying it down doesn't make us remember it, because we never actually processed it in our own words. So instead of building another place to dump quotes, we built BookJournal . That trains your brain to actually think about what you read, instead of just recording it. You chat about the book casually after you finish, and it asks you deeper questions based on things you've said before, and it summarizes it for you. Basically, it remembers your thinking patterns over time, so a few months in, you start seeing things like "you've circled this same question in three different books"; it reminds you about what you read and makes a connection to that. Anyways, this project is still young and rough in places. So we genuinely would love to receive your honest feedbacks! submitted by /u/Numerous_Assumption1 [link] [comments]
