I've recently read a take that the next biggest thing in tech is not software as a service, but services as a software. It's when software companies sell the results instead of the tool. So for example, instead of selling an accounting tool, the software company takes care of your accounting for you. I see an upside and downside to this. The upside is it's highly scalable and sellable. It takes off the heavy work of having to figure out a piece of software and makes more money for the software company. The downside is not every company will want this because it often means sharing company secrets and trademarks. But what do you think? Is this the next big thing in SaaS?
