Original Summary
Anyone else read an AI paper, ask AI to explain it, and somehow end up with even more things to Google? That was me. I tried ChatPDF, but the summaries still felt like homework. I just wanted to know: what did they do, how does it work, and why should I care? So I built PaperKid . It explains papers in simpler language and lets you ask follow-up questions. Use the Chrome extension while browsing papers, or upload a PDF from your computer . It supports English and Chinese summaries, different model APIs, and local models through Ollama. No PaperKid subscription—it’s free and open source. Bring your own API key (provider fees may apply), or run a model locally. Just launched, so expect some rough edges 😅 Give it a try and tell me what’s confusing, broken, or missing. Check it out on GitHub submitted by /u/AreaGold2410 [link] [comments]
