I’ve been working on Theologia Search, a Windows application that makes classic Christian theological writings easier to search, compare, and read. The current database includes: 66 historically classified authors 287 indexed source volumes, including books, letters, sermons, treatises, anthologies, and multi-volume works 180,134 pages of source material More than 76 million reader-facing words 118,242 searchable evidence records Writers from before Nicaea, the Nicene and medieval periods, and after the Reformation Authors including Clement of Rome, Justin Martyr, Irenaeus of Lyons, Origen, Augustine, Athanasius, John Chrysostom, Thomas Aquinas, Luther, Calvin, John Owen, Jonathan Edwards, John Wesley, Spurgeon, Hodge, Bavinck, and Kuyper The app provides: Regular concept and phrase search Advanced search by author, mentioned author, historical period, book, and chapter Results grouped by historical period Search history Full-text reading from the source context Deterministic relevance scores and quality labels A Python API and command-line interface for integration with other systems The search engine does not use AI models or generate theological conclusions. It retrieves source evidence and keeps results connected to their author, title, heading, page, and evidence ID. An AI system could optionally be connected later as a separate layer using these cited passages as context. The packaged installer includes the database, so regular users only need to download the installer. Developers who want to run the project from source can download the matching SQLite database from the GitHub Release.
