Original Summary
I’m thinking about building a small B2B SaaS for SMEs/SMBs while keeping my full-time software engineering job. The main motivation is pretty simple: I enjoy building things on weekends, and if I can eventually make some extra income from it, even better. I’m not trying to raise VC or quit my job anytime soon. A few things I’m trying to understand from people who have done this: 1. How do you handle potential conflict-of-interest issues with your employer? Obviously I wouldn’t use company code, data, customers, or work on it during office hours, but are there other things I should be careful about? 2. How do you actually get your first few B2B customers as a solo founder? Is it mostly cold email/LinkedIn outreach at the beginning, or have channels like Reddit, communities, SEO, partnerships, etc. worked for you? 3. Is it realistic to run a small SaaS serving businesses alongside a demanding full-time job, assuming I deliberately keep the product/support scope small? I’m especially interested in hearing from people who built a bootstrapped B2B SaaS on the side rather than going full-time founder immediately. Would love to hear what worked, what didn’t, and anything you wish you knew before starting. submitted by /u/Ok-Abrocoma-6714 [link] [comments]
