Original Summary
Hey, we are currently building a marketplace serving European customers, connecting them with contractors based in Ukraine. I’m running into a massive headache regarding payment routing and European compliance (specifically PSD2 / ZAG), and I’m hoping someone here has cracked this. The Goal: EU Customer pays -> Funds go directly to a licensed trustee/escrow -> Split happens -> Platform takes commission, contractor in Ukraine gets the rest. The Problem: Because of strict European PSD2 (and ZAG in Germany) regulations, we can't touch the funds ourselves. If the money flows through our accounts, we either need a BaFin/financial license, or we become the Merchant of Record (MoR), which we want to avoid. We want to remain a pure marketplace. What we've looked at: We checked out Payoneer and Payoneer Checkout. While they are great for cross-border payouts to Ukraine, they don't offer a "true" split payment at checkout. The money essentially belongs to us first. This forces us into the MoR role and breaks the pure marketplace model. Stripe Connect is usually the go-to for this, but Stripe's support for connected accounts receiving payouts in Ukraine is heavily restricted/non-existent right now. ==> Has anyone solved this specific payment flow? Is there a Payment Service Provider (PSP) or marketplace solution that? The majority of PSPs are targeting Enterprise companies. The only alternative what I have found out is asking Novalnet to build it for 25k. Many thanks. submitted by /u/Erdkartoffelwurst [link] [comments]
