I'm a solo founder in Belgium. Two months ago I launched Renovata, a lead marketplace for home renovation work in East Flanders. How it works: Homeowner posts a job for free (bathroom, plastering, doors, whatever). Contractors see the job for free and only pay when they want the contact details. Max 3 contractors per job, so the homeowner doesn't get 15 calls. No commission on the actual work. Just a one-off fee per lead: €15 / €35 / €50 depending on job size. The honest numbers so far: €147 spent on ads, ~525 clicks to the site. Exactly 1 real contractor paid. €35. That was 6 weeks ago. 218 homeowners landed on the "post a job" page and 0 of them posted a job. So something is clearly broken between "person visits site" and "person acts", and I'm too close to it to see what. What I'd really like: Open it, pretend you need a contractor, and tell me where you'd bail out. Same thing as a contractor. Would you pay €35 for a contact detail, or does it feel like a scam? Anything that makes you not trust the site in the first 5 seconds.
