Hey everybody! ​As a PC gamer, I’ve always been annoyed by how standard crosshairs (and even monitor OSDs) completely vanish during high-contrast scenes — whether it's aiming into deep shadows, bright skyboxes, or chaotic explosions (especially in games like Hunt: Showdown or CS2). ​Instead of settling for static colors, I spent the last few months developing a native Windows utility called Smart Crosshair. It dynamically samples the background pixels underneath the crosshair in real-time and flips color contrast on the fly so you never lose your center point. ​Engineering & Technical Approach: ​Zero Injection / Zero Hooks: Operates purely as a transparent top-most Windows desktop overlay. No memory reading, no game code injection, and zero process tampering — making it safe from anti-cheat systems. ​Real-Time Pixel Adaptation: Sub-millisecond pixel sampling directly beneath the crosshair position to dynamically invert colors based on background brightness. ​Ultra-Lightweight Footprint: Built with pure C++ and Win32 API.
