I'm 18 and building a nutrition app solo out of Fes, Morocco. Product was basically done in June. Took me until August to be able to accept a single dollar, and not because of anything technical. Lemon Squeezy rejected me. Paddle rejected me. Polar auto-rejected me before a human looked at it. None of them gave a real reason beyond risk/compliance boilerplate. What I eventually figured out is that if you're a solo founder in a country that isn't on the short list, you're getting scored on your address and your lack of a registered entity before anyone looks at your product. Merchant of record processors carry the tax and chargeback liability themselves, so their tolerance for unknown geographies is basically zero. It's not personal and appealing doesn't seem to do much. What worked was Freemius, mainly because they review applicants case by case instead of running a pure algorithmic risk score, and they're built for individuals rather than requiring a registered company. Integration was a Supabase edge function handling their webhooks with HMAC verification, took maybe a day. I'm not saying it's the only option out there, just the one that said yes to a solo founder with no entity and no track record. Two other things that cost me time. Stripe Connect wanted a W-8BEN before payouts would move, which nobody mentions until you're already in the flow. And on the local side, Morocco has an auto-entrepreneur regime that I'll need to register under once payouts scale, which is cheap but not optional forever. If you're outside the US or EU, look at your own version of that early instead of after money starts arriving. Still at zero paying users, so take the revenue advice from someone else.
