I've been building Forge, a free service for public GitHub repositories. You describe a feature or fix you want, and if your request is selected, AI agents build it and hand it back as a pull request. You review it and decide whether to merge. The first submission window opens Saturday 19 September at 00:00 UTC. How a cycle works - Week one: submissions are open. Each night, requests are checked against a published standard and rated on a public board. - Saturday: the window closes and the top 3 are selected. - Week two: those 3 get built. Agents read your codebase, plan the change, write the code, run your tests in a sandbox with no network access, check the diff against fixed rules, and have it reviewed by a separate agent that didn't write it. - Delivery: the work arrives as a PR you can merge into main. Nothing is merged for you. To submit Describe what you want built at https://forge.amitinfotech.net/submit You'll get a token. Commit it as a file named .ai-factory to your repo's default branch. This proves you can push to the repo so that nobody can request work on someone else's project. A brand-new empty repo is fine; that commit is all it needs. Optional: add a .ai-factory.md next to it with as much detail as you like. It's read when requests are reviewed, so a clear spec helps your rating. What gets picked Small, specific, testable requests rate best: a CLI flag, an endpoint, a bug fix with clear reproduction steps, tests, docs, a modest self-contained feature. "Make it better" or anything too big for one reviewable PR won't make it. The standards are published on the site. Surveillance, scraping personal data, security evasion and the like are refused, and refusals are final. The catch - Only 3 builds per cycle, so most requests won't be picked. Rated requests stay visible on the board, and you can resubmit next cycle. - Public repos only. - This is the first cycle. Every stage has been tested, but nothing has been delivered to a real repo yet. If your build doesn't pass every check, you get nothing rather than something broken. That's by design, but it will happen. - It's AI-written code, so review it the way you'd review any outside contribution. What you don't need to do: create an account, grant access to your repo, or pay. The bot opens the PR from its own fork. An email address is optional, is only used to tell you whether you were selected and when the work arrives, and is deleted 30 days after the cycle ends.
