Original Summary
a week ago i posted the breakdown of how i redid the landing page visuals around one style / one small palette / one family of spot graphics, and it seems the first batch was honestly the easy part while complications did arrive... 8 pics sitting next to each other on one page can look pretty coherent when they all came out of the same session or from same 'style' custom done, and then i started thinking about everything that comes after that: new feature page, one-two more integration graphics, pricing page needs a tiny illustration, AND, also somebody I trust in terms of brand and ui design decides the security asset should use the accent color. one graphic is fine except one object is weirdly large, yada yada. and i think this is where i was slightly misunderstanding the problem before. seems i was treating consistency as a generation problem, while sometimes it can be more of an editing / iterating problem. so the workflow i’m trying for the next batch is basically: 1. generate for direction (not perfection) still using recraft v4.1 vector generation model for the initial spot assets as some suggested, and then manually editing SVG's that come out of it in Affinity on my desktop, but once something is basically in the same family as the others, i’m trying to stop generating cousins of it (hoping one will randomly be perfect, ha ha) 2. simply fix the stupid bit and maybe keep the existing asset (do not infinitely regenerate rule) this has probably been the biggest change from the previous post, so if one element is too big, move / scale that shape. say, if one color drifted, change that element rather than remaking the whole illustration. if the silhouette is slightly off, go into the points and fix that part, with the workflow I chosen i can do those edits directly on the vector on the same recraft sttudio canvas (though also tried MCP for this), which is much closer to the problem i actually have now and gives me a bit of hope when i think on a different approach to using the same tools 3. try to judge the set instead of one individual graphic i’m keeping the assets beside each other while working because one graphic can look completely normal by itself and then become enormous emotionally when placed next to the other seven. same with corners / visual weight / amount of detail. apparently “technically the same dimensions” means almost nothing. 4. boring normalization > new concepts (often!) didn’t really appreciate in the first post and some of you have also mentioned that it is important to consider this (so I did!). good news if we are talking about effectiveness or efficiency: once the visual direction exists, making another completely new option is often less useful than: make this one 10% quieter, move that object also fix that curve + use the same accent color then remove a detail, by which point you have a good visual. takes 3-5 minutes most of the time, even if i go all manual or give it to my colleague with hardcore
