Google still hasn't added a proper folder system to Gemini. Gems and Notebooks exist, but they just don't solve the messy chat history problem. I looked at existing folder extensions, but they either had terrible UI, lacked features, or literally charged you money just to create a basic folder. So, as a frontend dev, I built my own. Since I let AI handle the heavy lifting for the actual boilerplate coding, it freed me up to obsess over the UX, the micro-interactions, and polishing the design. I am genuinely so proud of how this looks and feels. I’ve been iterating on this for 7 months. It currently has around 2,000 active users and 70 reviews (almost entirely 5-stars). It’s not a massive user base, but that rating gives me a lot of confidence that people actually love the UX. What it does (The Free Stuff): Drag & drop nested folders and tags Full-text search across all your history (not just recent ones) Prompt library & snippets Tons of QoL tweaks (adjustable chat width, removing image watermarks, hiding UI clatter, Zen mode, and way too many others to list without making this post a wall of text). It makes Gemini feel like a real IDE/Studio tailored for power users. * All of this is completely free. I refuse to paywall basic organization features. I hate it when tools do that. The "Pro" Stuff (How I keep this alive): Recently, I started exploring what AI can really do natively. I built a local "Workspace Agent" into the sidebar. Without needing any extra API keys (it uses your active Gemini session), you can drag in .docx , .xlsx , or .ppt files, and it will edit them locally (using Word's Track Changes or Excel formulas) without destroying your formatting. It can even auto-organize 100+ of your messy chats into folders for you automatically. I charge for these advanced agent features because it funds the ongoing development, but the free version is more than enough for 90% of people who just want a clean sidebar.
