Original Summary

HeadSense 1.0 was a normal indie health app. You log your headaches, pay a subscription, get weekly and monthly reports written by an AI model on a server. The reports were what people paid for, and they were also what cost me money every month. For 2.0 I asked what the report actually needed to be, and the answer was simple. How often, what time of day, which triggers keep showing up, which medication was followed by a lower intensity, etc. I rewrote the reports to compute on the device and deleted the server. With nothing left to charge for, the app is free now, with a tip jar in Settings that unlocks nothing. The other half of the rebuild was the look. People who need a headache app are often photophobic and using it mid attack, so the whole app became a dim room with one soft green light, big targets, one thumb, and you can update the intensity from the Lock Screen without opening it. What I'm still unsure about is whether people trust a free health app more or less than a paid one. If you have an opinion on that I'd like to hear it. No account, no analytics, nothing leaves the phone unless you turn on the optional iCloud backup. iOS 26, English only for now. https://apps.apple.com/us/app/headsense-migraine-tracker/id6756835111 submitted by /u/Street-Bullfrog2223 [link] [comments]
