Original Summary
Many sports fans, including myself, played 82 -0 and had a lot of fun with it. But for me, the single-player mode eventually got boring. It started to feel like a slot machine where I'd get lucky on teams and required no skill because the stats were all shown, which made me not really want to come back to it. Still, there was something about the idea that I really liked. So I built this game on the side (yes completely vibe coded). I took inspiration from Wordle and my family’s daily group chat around Wordle, mixed with the parts of sports games I enjoy and some trivia/strategy that actually requires a little skill. And alas, here we have TheDailySquad. You can play NFL, NBA, NHL, and more. Every day you get a new set of teams from different eras, and your job is to build the best five-player squad you can. The catch is that you can only take one player from each team, and you can only fill each position once. So, for example, if you get the 2004 Colts and take Peyton Manning, you’ve used both your quarterback spot and your Colts pick. You can’t also take Marvin Harrison from that Colts team, and if another team has a great quarterback, you can’t take him either. You have to figure out the best combination across all five teams. At the end, you get a score and can compare it with everyone else who played that day. I’ve been playing it daily with a group of friends, and that’s probably been my favorite part so far. We’re now constantly bantering about random players we forgot about, guys we irrationally loved, funny names, terrible picks, etc. It’s turned into the same kind of daily conversation that Wordle did for my family. Would genuinely love feedback on it, especially whether the game makes sense quickly, whether it feels like something you’d come back to daily, and what feels confusing or unnecessary. submitted by /u/conorop [link] [comments]
