Original Summary
I’ve been lurking in r/SideProject for years, and it’s been interesting to see how much it’s changed with AI coding and, more recently, vibe coding. There are more products being built than ever. And there are also more posts asking the same question: How do I get paying customers? I don’t have the answer. But I think there’s an uncomfortable part of the problem we don’t talk about enough. We’re often marketing our side projects to other people building side projects. And from a customer’s perspective, “side project” can be a pretty bad sales pitch. If I’m going to depend on your software, I’m not just buying what exists today. I’m betting that you’ll maintain it, fix bugs, answer support emails, keep the servers running, and still care about it two years from now. AI has made it dramatically easier for one person to build something that looks like a real software company. It hasn’t necessarily made customers more comfortable depending on one. Maybe part of getting customers isn’t convincing them the product is good. Maybe it’s convincing them this isn’t just something you vibe coded over a weekend and might abandon next month. submitted by /u/rockyrudekill [link] [comments]
