Original Summary

I added scan-change tracking to Netsight, the iOS network scanner I'm building. When you scan again it calls out new devices, returning devices, and devices that weren't found this time. Those changes show up on the scan screen and in scan history. One of the bugs I fixed in 1.2.2: a device could briefly appear as both "new" and "gone" when its network identity changed between scans. Not the most reassuring thing for a network tool to tell you. Now I'm thinking about the wording. "Gone" is short, but sounds pretty definite. "Not seen in this scan" is clunkier, but says exactly what was observed. If you were checking your own network, would you prefer the shorter label with a last-seen time, or the more explicit wording?
