I used to work as a mortgage loan officer, and one thing that consistently surprised me was how many homeowners did not fully understand the mortgage they already had. Getting answers often means talking to someone whose business model is ultimately tied to originating or refinancing a loan. Sometimes that is helpful—but sometimes people just want to understand their current mortgage without immediately entering a sales process. So I built Lighthouse, a tool where someone can upload/read their mortgage documents and get plain-English, high-level insights about their loan and financial situation.
