Hello, I built weekinpapers.com. It lists every computer science paper posted to arXiv in the current week, with a plain-language headline and summary for each one. Where a result looks like it could become a product or a service, the paper gets a mark, a line on who it is for, and a line on what could be sold. The thinking behind it is this. Good ideas tend to appear at the frontier, at the point where a new fact has just been established and very few people know it yet. arXiv is where those facts show up first, and in computer science alone there are around 2,500 of them a week. Almost nobody reads them, because they are written for other researchers and there are too many. So most of the frontier goes unnoticed, and the people who would act on it never see it. The site is an attempt to fix the "reading" part. An LLM turns each abstract into a headline and a short summary, then asks who could use the result and whether there is something to sell. This week that gave 289 papers with a commercial line, out of 2,595. A few from the last couple of days: A method for recovering detail in very bright parts of a photo, which works on ordinary RAW files. For mobile camera app developers. A system that rebuilds a patient's treatment timeline from discharge notes and links each event back to its source. For anyone selling into electronic health records. A speech-to-speech translation model that keeps the speaker's voice and tone. For translation products. The commercial page is at weekinpapers.com/opportunities , and the front page has everything, with category filters down the side. The honest caveats. The headlines and the commercial lines are written by an AI system from the abstract alone, so they can be wrong or overstated, and the paper is the authority. The "who it is for" labels are sometimes broader than I would like. And it only covers computer science for now. I would like to know whether this is useful to people who are looking for what to build next, and what would make it more so. I am also unsure whether a weekly email of just the commercial papers is something people would actually want, so if you have a view on that I would be glad to hear it.
