Original Summary

Hi all, Some context first: I've spent 14+ years in digital marketing, mostly ecommerce growth (Meta Ads, Klaviyo, Shopify, Amazon). I know how to sell physical products online, but subscription apps are a different game, and I'd rather learn from people who've done it than burn money figuring it out alone. What I've built A running app that works like a personal coach living in your calendar. You tell it how you feel, how you slept, that work is crazy this week or that you're travelling, and it reorganizes your training around your actual life. No more static PDF or spreadsheet plans that break the moment real life gets in the way. Simple, flexible and affordable. - Stage: just launched on the App Store - Platform: iOS and web (Android later) - Pricing: 1-week free trial, then 4.99€/month - Why it's different from Runna, Garmin Coach, TrainingPeaks, etc.: it's built around adapting to your life and how you feel, not around a fixed plan, and at a fraction of the price of a human coach Where I'd love your input Channels: For a niche fitness app, what actually moved the needle early on? Running communities, creators/coaches, ASO, paid social, partnerships with races or clubs? What was a waste of time? Pricing and MRR: Is a 7-day trial enough for a training app, where the value shows over weeks? Should I add an annual plan from day one? Hard vs soft paywall? Retention: Running is seasonal and goal-driven (people train for a race, then drop off). How do you keep subscribers after the goal is done? Metrics: Now that I'm live, which numbers should I watch in the first 6 months to know if this is working? What's a realistic trial-to-paid or month-2 retention benchmark at this price point? Paid acquisition: Coming from ecommerce, my instinct is Meta Ads. Does that translate to a 4.99€ subscription, or is it a trap at this stage? Not dropping a link here, I'm not trying to promote. Just looking for honest advice from people who've been through it. Happy to share what I learn back in the comments. Thanks! submitted by /u/Sea_Surround9825 [link] [comments]
