Original Summary

Hi, I'm behind ChunkArc. I've been working on Playstead, a Windows app for people who want to run a Minecraft Java or Terraria server on their own PC but don't want to manage everything through folders and command windows. You can create a server, choose its version, change settings, use the console and make backups in one app. There are also catalogs for compatible Minecraft mods/plugins and tModLoader mods. Compatibility still depends on your game, version and loader. The server runs on your computer, so your PC and Playstead need to stay on while people play. For friends outside your home, supported builds can use your own Playit account. That needs setup, and latency depends on Playit's routing. Historical Minecraft Alpha/Beta and preview builds are currently limited to the host PC. It's a free beta, not a finished product. Please start with a test world and keep separate backups of anything important. The Windows x64 installer isn't code signed, so Windows may show an unknown-publisher warning. It's closed source; the public GitHub repository is for releases and support. Screenshots, the download and beta notes: https://www.chunkarc.net/playstead/ I'd like feedback on the setup flow, especially from people who have tried hosting for a few friends. What usually makes you give up or reach for a tutorial? submitted by /u/Foremast69 [link] [comments]
