Original Summary
She lost her job after 2 weeks we got engaged in March. At first, we weren’t too worried. We thought she will find something in a few weeks. Then a few weeks became a month. Then two. She was applying almost every day, but most of the jobs already had hundreds of applicants. She wasn’t unqualified but was late. One night, she told, “I feel like I’m always late.” That stuck with me. I work in tech, so I started thinking how can I help her, I wrote a small script that would check company career pages and tell us when new jobs were posted. It was honestly pretty ugly at first. Just something running on my laptop. But it worked. I kept adding companies and filters, and eventually she started getting 2-3 calls in week from kinds of Stripe, Google etc. She eventually got an offer, and we got married in Aug. After that I thought to turn it into something useful for anyone who’s stuck in the same job-search loop. If anyone here is job hunting, I’d actually be interested in hearing whether being an early applicant has made a difference for you. submitted by /u/Key-Dog415 [link] [comments]
