hey r/SideProject 👋 so for about a month i've been talking to creators who sell UI kits, templates, design systems and coded components, mostly here in india. 50+ conversations so far, mostly on linkedin. one thing i didn't expect was how much the small fees hurt at indian price points. a few of the creators i spoke to sell on gumroad, so i went and did the math: direct sales are 10% plus $0.50, with card processing on top. on a ₹499 template that $0.50 alone is around ₹44, so the cut is already close to 19% before processing. sales through their discover page are a flat 30%. and payouts to indian banks need a $100 balance plus a 7 day hold. not hating on gumroad btw, it works great for a lot of people with a global audience. but it got me thinking about what a fair setup looks like for someone selling a ₹300 to ₹1000 kit mostly to indian buyers. so here's what i'm going with for Crazeal (still building, not live yet): no listing fee, listings are free first 10 creators to list once we go live get 0% commission forever everyone else gets 0% during the trial period, then 10% after that payments through razorpay so buyers can pay with UPI, cards or net banking, and payouts usually land in 2 to 3 days you keep full rights to your files, and it's non exclusive so you can keep selling wherever you already do every listing gets its own page, built so it can show up on google and in AI tools like chatgpt and claude honestly i can't promise sales on day one, it's a new marketplace and discovery takes time. that's kind of why i'm posting here. few things i'd love your take on: 1. is 10% after the trial fair or would you expect lower? 2. if you sell digital stuff, what would actually make you list on a new marketplace? 3. anything here that sounds too good to be true? i'd rather hear it now 😅 no link for now since we're not live, but if you sell design assets and want to be in that first 10, drop a comment or DM me and i'll message you when it opens.   submitted by   /u/T07NAD0 [link]   [comments]
